Description
This association specimen from the Ilha Claim (formerly known as Lavra da Ilha, an island located in the middle of the Jequitinhonha River, Brazil). The standout aspect of this piece is the baby-pink rose quartz association with attractive olive-green aggregates of the rare phosphate mineral Zanazziite. The Ilha Claim is also the type locality for Zanazziite, making specimens from this area particularly significant for collectors. It is important to note that while some of these Zanazziite crystals may be mistakenly labeled as Roscherite, there have been no confirmed Roscherite specimens from this locality, according to mindat.org. Zanazziite is a hydrated calcium magnesium iron aluminum beryllium phosphate, and it has been reported from only around 20 locations worldwide, with most of these occurrences being in Brazil. -- D Joyce Minerals
