Calcite, Ettringite

Description

Small stubby opaque white prismatic hexagonal crystals and some opaque to edge transparent crystals of ettringite on a large crystals of calcite. The ettringite is opaque with some exceptions being edge transparent and slightly yellowed with a vitreous lustre. There is an attached fragment of lamellar hausmannite on andradite on country rock ironstone. The large calcite to 4.6cm x 3.6cm wide is a hex with a modified trigonal termination that is covered by ettringite.
